Today was so pleasant after all that rain ---bright warm sunshine ---peepers peeping---chorus of frogs singing---""hey""--- I think I even heard the grass growing! :-)

Thanks for visiting my Blue Jay Barrens Blog. It's certainly fun to count Wild Turkeys among your yard birds. Your white headed turkey is pretty typical of a mature male in breeding condition. As the breeding season approaches, the top of the male turkey's head will turn white or very light blue. Many birds go through hormone changes that allow them to remember how they're supposed to act during breeding season. Until the hormones do their work, the birds are a little bit awkward in their breeding displays.
