""Bluebirds Do Eat Suet""

I have heard reports of the Eastern Bluebirds feeding of suet but I have never in all the 30 some years that I have had the Bluebirds nesting in my boxes have I seen it happen!!
Now I have seen it happen and photos to verify it......of course as usual, as my luck has it. they are again through the "Window Glass" and have my deck rails, which are very much in need of a good scraping and paint job, as a backdrop!!    No ...not a lovely branch with flowers , but I am pretty much going to be contend that I at least I have the photos!!
I noticed the male sitting on the rail of the deck and fly up to the caged suet hanging of the bar I had the feeders on.

Up on the feeder bar!!


He tried to eat out of the cages,but wasn't able to get at it
so I took a suet cake and laid it out !!

He came back and took a look around ...


Took a look down to the suet...


Got a tasty morsel...


Hopped back to the rail !!
Love  this tilted head pose!!

The blue of there feathers is so beautiful!!
That color never ceases to amaze me, no matter how many times I see it !!
That flash of indescribable blue!!

    OH Great that you got to see this and photograph it too!! They come to my sisters seed feeder too although I bought the same seed and they have yet to try it here--SO....I wont give up!!

    What a beautiful bird.. that blue is something else..I use to see Baltimore Orieles when I would put out an orange..but never bluebirds..what a great photo!!! Have a great day !

    Oh, do I ever love your bluebird photos. I agree, there's nothing as spectacular as the blue of a male bluebird. I didn't realize they would eat suet.

    We have bluebirds here but they don't look like your own! So pretty though! Bug eaters so that's why I'm sure they like suet.

    I wish that a bluebird would stop by here. I haven't seen any this year. I do believe they have eaten suet here before. I usually don't have anything else of interest to them.

    I look away for a few minutes and suddenly there's two new posts to read. You must have been busy with your blogging GG - much busier than with the paintbrush obviously, LOL. But those Bluebirds must be just great to have around GG, and as you say the blue is really so blue - wish we had some over here.

    Hi Grammie G, it's good to be back to blog reading after a week away in NJ with hardly any internet access (imagine that!). I've never had much luck with suet feeders and now the blackbirds, starlings, and grackles would probably get to it as they have to all the feeder seed. We have never seen bluebirds in our yard, so it was great to see your photos. They are quite the colorful ones.

    Bluebird are an absolute fave of mine! I don't have any that come to my feeders but I see them along a trail that I walk ..... gives me a little thrill everytime I see one!
